Last year was our debut on Lake Ontario, so it seemed fitting to create a drink specially for the occasion. I promise you that these tasted better when floating at anchor, but they are also quite tasty dockside!
How to make your very own decompression drink:
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Gin of your choice (I recommend something forward and flavourful like Hendrick’s)
- 1 bottle of Fever Tree grapefruit tonic
- A splash of Bourbon (I used Woodford’s)-
- A squeeze of fresh lime juice
- Ice
- A splash of Soda water
- A rocks glass
- A spring of fresh thyme as garnish (optional)
Preparation:
1. I recommend chilling the gin in the freezer ahead of time as this will mean you use less ice (always at a premium on a boat!)
2. Squeeze the lime juice and set it aside
3. Gently stir the gin, grapefruit tonic water, lime juice and soda water in your glass
4. Add your ice as desired
5. Top it off with a splash of your favourite bourbon and stir very gently
6. Garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme
7. Relax and enjoy!
