Do I have to hire a captain?

No, all charters will be helmed by Greig who is the owner and a Transport Canada certified captain. Depending on how many guests you have on board, we will have 1-2 crew members to pour your drinks, serve your food and see to your comfort during the charter.

Can I bring my own food and refreshments?

Yes, absolutely! However there are some items that are not allowed on board Decompression. Please see our Boat Rules and Restrictions for items that will need to be left at the dock. Take a look at our self-catering recommendations!

Is the boat motor loud?

Great question! Actually Decompression's diesel engines are very quiet and most people don't even realize they are running as we cruise around the islands and the Toronto Harbour at a leisurely pace.

How long is a typical sail?

We recommend a 3 hour charter for most groups and parties. This allows you lots of time to enjoy the waterfront and swim if you like. If you want additional time on board, then you may want to consider a 4 hour charter, but we can easily take you and your group on a detailed cruise around all the delights of the inner harbour in 3 hours.

Where does the voyage take us?

Typically we take you around the inner harbour of Toronto so you and your group can be seen as we float past the various beaches and restaurants that dot the waterfront! We then take you along the inner island system past Hanlan's Wall and Centre Island. Then we go past the western end of the inner harbour, where you can see several of the yacht clubs and if we're lucky a regatta of sailboats racing off RCYC (Royal Canadian Yacht Club).

Depending on the weather and wave height, and what you and your party want to do, we will anchor in a protected bay or off of Hanlan's Beach so you can swim and float to your heart's content. If we have an evening cruise, we like to take you out through the Western Gap past Billy Bishop Airport and out by Ontario Place to watch the sunset. Then we will bring you back where we started our journey at the base of Spadina and the Queen's Quay where you will disembark.

How many people can I bring aboard in my party?

Decompression holds up to a maximum of 18 guests and 3 crew for a total of 22 people.

What about music on the boat?

For the DJ's in the crowd--please bring your playlists on board! We have a great surround sound system that allows you and your guests to enjoy your favourite music from anywhere on the boat.

Don't hesitate to reach out.
